Often this is the case, but it’s also important to consider whether you need the most expensive system. The best example of this is with our wireless driveway alarm systems, the MURS units are generally the most expensive and have by far the longest wireless range. However in terms of reliability, sophistication etc. they are […]

My SpotProtect now sends each text message from a different phone number, filling my phone with text message threads. What can I do?
Spot Protect has migrated mail servers to a new host. The up side is that they have increased their deliverability from around 96% to 99.9% (less servers are sending notifications to spam). They now configure the “From” address of the email but there is a secondary header that is a “ReplyTo” header, and it is […]
I’m looking at the CARSPOT WiFi driveway alarm. But I’m concerned I don’t have WiFi out at the end of my driveway for the sensor. What can I do?
This is a common question, fortunately the answer is, nothing! The WiFi component actually connects directly to the wireless chime part of the driveway alarm system. Which will be located inside your home, office, store front etc.. So having WiFi out in your driveway is NOT a requirement.
My wireless system is false alarming/repeatedly chiming for no apparent reason. How come?
This is a symptom of low battery(ies) in the sensor/transmitter unit. Most systems will begin to alarm erratically, and sometimes continuously when the batteries drop below a sufficient level. One thing to pay attention for is “repeat” alarms. Many of our wireless systems have a built in low battery warning system, which will cause the […]
Can I use multiple sensors/transmitters with my wireless driveway alarm system?
Yes, absolutely you can. This is a very common question that we’re asked daily. With ALL of our wireless driveway alarm systems you can use multiple transmitters/receivers together all within the same system to protect and monitor multiple points on your property. Some of our wireless systems do have limitations on the number of devices […]

Does the WiFi setup utility for my SpotProtect sensor work on Windows 8? Or on a MAC?
Yes, the WiFi setup utility is Windows 8 compatible. However it is NOT yet available for MAC computers, so you will need a PC for the initial programming. Once the sensor is online you can access it via the cloud portal through the internet and any web-enabled device will work (MAC, Android, PC, iPhone etc.)
Can I connect more than one metal sensing probe to my driveway alarm transmitter/system?
The magnetic driveway probes operate as being part of a complete circuit/loop which is being monitored. So a probe with 50 feet of wire for example is in a circuit which consists of 50 feet of wire, plus the probe. When a fluctuation across that circuit (caused by nearby moving metal) is detected it triggers […]
Is the SpotCable for the Spot Protect wifi sensors a common cable? Do I really need to buy one or do I already have a suitable one?
In short, no it is not. It is a standard USB end on the computer side and an auxiliary plug (headphone or speaker) on the end which plugs into your WiFi sensor. While not technically “proprietary” it is a very uncommon USB cable type. You can check out the full SpotProtect line of WiFi alarm […]
